Can I Use JBL LX44 to Make a Sub?

I have a set of JBL LX44's collecting dust in my basement. I found a sub calculator online and I'm trying to either find the detailed specs on the woofers or have someone more familiar with them tell me whether or not it would be worth my time to investigate further.

Can I use these woofers to make a competent sub?

Not really. I used to own these speakers. Back in the day they were quite good but the woofers simply cannot handle alot of bass without bottoming out. I would use these speakers in another room for stereo rather than yanking the woofers out to build a sub. You can buy sub drivers for $50 or less each that will do a much better job.

Thanks Gene. I guess it's time to start saving up some cash then.
