I've ordered an onkyo hts3700 receiver which is meant for a passive subwoofer. I have also ordered a polk rm705 speaker system with an active subwoofer. Can I use the zone 2 line out as a subwoofer out or is there another way to solve my problem? I know I shouldn't have gotten the wrong receiver for the job but the damge is done.

It appears the sub has speaker level inputs so use the subwoofer speaker terminals on the avr and connect to the sub with speaker wire....

You're welcome. The amp in the avr for the sub channel is only supplying a signal via the speaker wire this way, so you're still using the active sub's amp for actual powering of the sub. Just what high level inputs are for, for when you don't have a pre-out with a line-level signal on the avr/pre-amp.

Thanks again that's a relief. I purchased the equipment from eBay and no returns.
