Has anybody here had any experience with these speakers? I haven't been able to find any reviews about them online. They combine Newton Series II MC105's with an 8 inch sub (BassCube 821).

I'm considering ordering them as a replacement to my Klipsch Promedia 2.1's. I've had to replace them twice and the cable doesn't seem to last very long and soldering didn't help this time. I'm just going to be using these for my PC, 80% music listening (Electronica, Trance, Indie, Hard rock) and 20% for movies. I'm trying to determine whether they'd actually be an upgrade to the Klipsch's.

Outside of the defective cable, my guess* is that it will be more of a lateral move than an upgrade. I'd instead consider a pair of powered studio monitors, for instance. Or, if you can muster an amp, then passives of course. You probably can't implement the sub, at least without hi level I/O and onboard BM, which I'm sure is not available at the price point.

The Cambridge looks to be about $200, and I understand that my recommended path is perhaps 3-fold in price. But, you can add a sub later down the road, and I think the results should be at least 3-fold in performance.

Otherwise, I'm not sure if you'll find anyone who has compared these two products.
