Cambridge DAC Magic plus vs. Onkyo receiver 626

Hi, I am a newbi in audiholics, recently I connected a Cambridge dac magic plus ,so i can listen to all my classical music files in my PC. For various reason I wish to change my receiver & get onkyo tx-nr626. My speakers are psb imagine.

My question is onkyo tx-nr already has an Inbuilt brown-burr digital to analog converter for all channels, so do I need an additional CA Dac magic plus for superior quality music or is my onkyo receiver ienough or better than dac magic plus? I am a bit confused as they both produce 24bit/192Khz sample. So any suggestion.thanks.

Welcome to the forum!
I would listen to both and decide for yourself. If you can't decide which is best, use the Cambridge in a different system or sell it.
I have yet to hear a difference myself but I don't have golden ears:D

There are two separate issues here. One is whether or not the av receiver you picked out will work well with the PSB imagine speakers. I have and love the PSB imagine b bookshelf speakers but they are a tough load for a lot of receivers; you will need something that is 4 ohm stable. Plus all you want is something to play classical music with, right? So get a good quality integrated amp or stereo receiver which is 4 ohm stable. I'd pick up something like this refurbished Marantz SR4023 stereo receiver from accessores4less at $299: Marantz SR4023 80w X 2ch Ci Friendly Stereo Receiver | Accessories4less. Or you could pick up a refurbished NAD 326Bee amp from spearit sound at $429: NAD C 326Bee Refurbished - Integrated Amplifiers by Spearit Sound. Either way you get to use your nice cambridge dacmagic plus (I have one and really like mine) and you get a stereo receiver or amp that will do a good job of driving those speakers.

Thanks bikemig,I forgot to mention that currently I have a 5.1 setup ,(recently upgraded to 7.1) of which 5 of the speakers plus the sub is from psb, for listening music I use the PSB Imagine T2, not the bookshelf speakers, I am also an avid movie buff ,so the speakers are used for multipurpose.( I know it's not an ideal setup for classical music) I don't have golden ears ,since my room size is medium, I am planning to get the onkyo tx-nr 626 receiver(currently I am using onkyo tx-nr 809) which will serve both my purpose, watching movies and playing my digital files through dac magic plus, but if my av receiver is already equipped with equal or better dac,is it necessary for me to use the ca dac magic plus? This is only for my digital files.

For classical cd's I have a cayine valve amp & marantz k-lite pearl CD player.
Thanks to both of you for your kind advice.
