Seriously, I have no life.
I just picked up a Crest VS1500. Now I need to connect it to my Pre-amp

I purchased these cables, I just need to know if they will work with the TRS inputs on the VS1500? In the manual, it shows balanced TRS connectors (Ground=Neg=Pos), but RCA is unbalanced, so will they work?

They should if this amp conforms to the Pin1=ground/Pin2=hot(inverted)/Pin3=cold(non-inverted) standard. What preamp do you have? It's really not the right way to do this and pro audio signal levels aren't necessarily the same as consumer audio levels.

Maybe buying this was a bad idea lol. Could you explain the levels difference? What would the result of using a "consumer" pre-amp be vs others?

Pro equipment often uses a different reference voltage for max output. Higher voltage at the input allows the amp's input level controls to be turned down and with that, goes the noise floor. Extremely sensitive amplifiers can be noisy and gain stages need to be correct in order for the system to sound its best.

The amp is a good one- try it and find out if it will work out.

Sounds very simlar to my setup. I hooked my Consumer Beresford 7520 DAC to a PRO Behringer EP2000. I used the same type of cables too.

The system worked, but not well. I had to set the Ep2000's gain so high that you heard hiss. Also, the music didn't feel dynamic as before.

Enter the Samson S-Convert and all is now good:)

Yes, those cables will work. The amp only requires 1.4 V to drive it to maximum output; most self-respecting home pre amps put out more than that, even more so for sub outputs. If you’re using it for subs, noise is not an issue. If you’re using it for the mains and you get some noise, you can use the Samson S-Convert that Codifus mentioned.
