California Audio Labs

I was wondering if any of you guys have heard of California Audio Labs? In one of my occasional trips to the thrift store, I bought a California Audio Labs Ikon cd player for $25.00. It works and sounds great, but it looks like it was made in the late 80's or early 90's. It's pretty heavy too. Just wondering if any of you guys know about them.

Good CD Player

I used to have a Calfornia AL cd player...sounded great...quit working after 4 years. I hope you have better luck/longevity, but you certainly got your money's worth! They make very nice stuff!

What model is it and does it have any digital outputs?

Great find.

The Ikon was a great player in its time and still sounds quite good. Cal Audio made some great players. One of there tube based designs was one of my first introductions to high end audio. It's a shame there not in business anymore.

Thats the grat thing about the Good Will. They have no clue what they have on there hands half the time so they mark it down thinking its a no name company.

CAL is excellent quality stuff. You got a great deal. I'd just keep it as you're not going to find a better cd player for anywhere near 25 bucks.

There's no digital outputs, I guess that showed up in a later model. I googled the company, but there wasn't a whole lot of information available, so I appreciate your answers. The player seems to work a little smoother after it's been on a while, very good sound though not quite on the same level as my primare. Definitely impressive for $25.00.
