I have this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Avia-II-Guide-Home-Theater/dp/B000X4NJNS

It's pretty easy to use and I'm pretty stupid. It gets lots of recommendations as does the DVE but it is known to be easier to use. I would suggest getting a new one just to make sure that it comes with the Blue, green and red color filters. Welcome to the wonderful world of calibration. :)

I don't have a specific recommendation for a particular disc, but if you already have a DVD setup disc, there is little need for one on BD. Here is why:

After calibrating my TV again with the new Blu-Ray edition, I ended up with the exact same settings that I achieved with the DVD, so in that respect, you're not going to get a more enhanced calibration with the Blu-Ray edition.

This should not be a surprise, as one is not doing anything resolution dependent in the adjustment of the TV settings.

I have the Avia with the filters and its pretty easy to use. They have a tutorial that you watch and it explains each step of the process. Im not sure how great the color filters are. I played with that for a while and in the end I ended up using the default settings on my panel. I think its like everyone says, get the contrast and brightness down and your more then 1/2 way done with your calibration.

AVRant just had a podcast regarding video calibration that should be checked out. They go over the "entry, mid, and high" end types of calibration.

Spears & Munsil High-Definition Benchmark Blu-ray Disc Edition [Blu-ray] has a very good rating from Home Theater Mag this month. I have not used it though.
