I'm using my old X-Sub 12 in my front room. It's a very good 12" ported sub in a compact box. Doesn't go very low (rolls off at 25Hz). Has a huge class A/B amp, and a very well built 12" driver (looks a lot like the HSU drivers). It's pretty transient with music, and adds a lot to movies if you're not familiar with better subs such as HSU, SVS, etc... I find it has a lot of port noise when pushed hard due to it's capable amp and driver. For the $189 I paid a few years back, it was a bargain. For $299, I'd probably spend another $100 and go with something by eD, or B stock from HSU or SVS.
