Cadence CSX15 MARK II Subwoofer

Hey guys, I just got one of these for an early Christmas present. It sounds decently good but at a volume of 12 or so it distorts/overdriven. On the back it has all the knows for settings, anyone have one of these and have a preferred setting? Thanks for any help.

On the subwoofer a "volume of twelve or so" is way to high. Typically you want to be between 9 and 10 on the dial. With what source material are you causing it to bottom. What is the rest of your setup? Most subwoofers under say $500 will bottom out when over driven

this sub was measured by Josh Ricci and found to be well below the average. I'd recommend to lower both the level and your expectations until there isn't audience distortion. placing sub in the corner should help a bit.

Yeah I have it quite low right now, it sounds great during movie fight scenes and all, music is what kills it. Like hard rock/metal and hip hop. It has nice low bass I'll admit as long as the volume of the source isn't above 10. I'll figure out a balance I just figured someone was knowledgeable about this unit. Thanks.

I'm surprised it's with music. Turning down the sub volume should solve the music issue, but you might want to consider an in line high pass filter just to be safe especially for movies . Josh noted that the protection circuits were lower than what the sub indicated needing.

This unit has no deep bass output. In my opinion, it looks pretty bad. Here are some measurements for it. It looks like it is tuned an entire two octaves too high to be a true subwoofer. It has no protection from bottoming out. It will always bottom out if you push anything hard below 55 Hz. There is a lot wrong with it. Here is a 15" sub of the same price which makes some much better design choices.

Thanks for your feedback. I just contacted the company and hoping for a return. This will depend on the likelihood of me getting and trying the other speaker you linked. Let's hope they take it back Thanks again.
P.S. I will come here before making a big purchase from now on lol

I had this sub in my system for a while and I found it to have good output, but not deep extension. I had it in a very large room and I did not have any issues with it straining except with really extreme levels. It is picky about placement too.

Is it calibrated? You should start with the sub at about 50% gain and calibrate with it set that way, then adjust between the two to achieve proper levels, not starting with 100% gain.
