If you want to know how receiver mfgs feel about quality cables, look inside a $2,000 receiver....about $5 worth of 1960s transistor radio 40 guage wire....and remember, the sound is only as good as the weakest link at the source....it is not improved by expensive cables at the output....I guess you could argue about long runs etc from the outputs...

Where is the largest current flow? That requires heavier cable. Inside, there's no appreciable current flowing, so the gauge is less important than low loss and great shielding. You can't just add up the cost of the parts to determine the value of equipment.
