cable snake worst nightmare

well almost. worst nightmare is the link breaking mid-wall. Mine was 2nd worst. I pulled the wrong cable the first time (and hooked into the wrong cable, so I lost my only pull from my AV rack location to the laundry room (the rally point for all the wires).

Then plan B's "pull" (which was some wire previously pre-wired for a surround speaker) would not budge and I broke the insulation.

Ugh, so now I have to actually pull up carpet and pull up subfloor panels on my riser to rewire all this stuff. Oh well. At least it isn't punching drywall, which I know is a pain.

Great respect for electricians and custom installers!

no real question, just venting.

Followup:
So I tore up my riser last night and ran some conduit from the wall to the middle, where the jack plates will be. So much easier to pull things through.

Turns out, I only made the holes barely big enough for the wires that were in there, so I when I tried to snake it out, it caught on everything. Oh well, live and learn.

If you're prewiring stuff or building an HT or riser, spend the extra $20 to $50 and put some flexible conduit in there. You'll be thankful later. ;)
