Hi All-

I'm looking to replace the cable connecting the control unit on my Gallo MPS 150 with a longer cable. The one provided by Gallo is all of about 8" long and I'd like to relocate the electronic top to provide better access to the volume/crossover/phase controls. Each end of the Gallo cable terminates in a male 1/4" plug...to my semi-educated eye it looks (and feels) like the same instrument cable I use for my electric guitar. Would such instrument cable do the job? Again this is only for the jumper between the control unit and the sub. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!

You're talking about something like this, correct?

Your MPS 150 cable is carrying the amplified signal to the woofer cone. I believe that the one in the link above would work just fine, given that it has 16AWG cables (and I'm assuming that's 16AWG for both conductors). It's even shielded, which I don't think you'd need.

I'm not 100% positive, though, so hopefully someone else here will chime in.

Guitar VS. PA Speaker Cable

Guitar cable is made to carry low current signals over long distances. PA Speaker cables are made to carry a amplified signal over long distances. I have bought both in the past and have taken both apart to fix the connectors. The only differences I have seen is that the guitar cable has better shielding. The conductor wires are the same. Hope this helps
