Here's a good question for you guys:
In the office where I work, I have fortunately been tasked with the job of restructuring our conference room, and updating the technology. Based on my previous work as an A/V Integrator, I jumped into it happily.
So far, I have installed a 4 way multipoint Polycom videoconferencing system used with dual 42 wall mounted LCD screens, and a small distributed audio system with overhead in-ceiling speakers.
Next thing I proposed was another corner mounted LCD display for computer images and presentations (as we typically go through a lot of data files during a conference with our other two offices out of state). This will be a direct connection between a tabletop notebook computer running standard VGA as a second display on the LCD. Nothing complicated here.
But herein lies my question - back at my last job my company was a huge reseller of Extron electronics, which of course is tailored to the commercial A/V crowd.
My intent is to find something like this:
http://www.extron.com/product/product.aspx?id=ccubby200&subtype=8
or even this:
http://www.extron.com/product/product.aspx?id=hideawayhsa200C&subtype=9
outside of the Extron catalog, if there is such a thing. All I need is simple VGA, stereo audio (3.5mm), and an Ethernet connection. From my past experience with Extron, their products don't come cheap, and I know I could call up my old pals and get one at a deal, but if there is a cheaper alternative out there somewhere I would really like to know about it. In the interest of maintaining the "wow" factor from the boss, while saving a few $$ in the process.
Anyone out there able to point me in the right direction?
