Well I think I finally got it. :D

THANKS For updating the Reccomended Systems in time for me to buy my new system!! I am purchasing friday 3/9/07 and it came out in time for me to finalize what I plan on ordering.

I need help with the cables, and how to connect them. I went to Lowe's and already got 80' of 12 Gauge 2wire speaker cable. and have Gold plated pins to attach to them (from a monster wire kit I got at a store that went out of bussiness years ago.)
Please let me know what cables I should get, to hook this up. And any last minute tweaks you think I should look at.

In the end I figured sticking to this formula. I started at $5,000 and just realized everything I was picking made me end up at a $6,000 Budget. Several of the other components I really wanted made me kinda stretch into this budget. I figured why have a really nice display and run it with sub par reciever and speakers. So I used this as a guidline to figure out what to purchase.

BUDGET $6,000
35% - 40% Display. $2100 - $2400
20% - 30% Electronics (pre-amp/DVD/remote etc). $1200 - $1800
35% - 40% Speakers. $2100 - $2400
5% - 10%. Cables $300 - $600

I was a tad off, but mostly it fits according to these guidlines.
But, here is my list:

Display - Mitsubishi LT-46231 (LCD) $2,799 +tax = $3,029.92
AV - Emotiva LMC-1 and LPA-1 $899
Speakers - Axiom epic 60. (modified no Sub, QS4's instead of 8's) 1,734.70
Sub - Hsu Research VTF-2 MK3 $469
DVD Player - Oppo DV-981HD (Christmas present!)
Remote - Radio Universal Remote PowerPak RF20 and MRF100 $149
Total = 6281.62 (stretching my budget of 5k originally, just seemed the extra $1,000 went a far way! so I just saved up a little extra cash) And of course I expect you all to tell me I need to spend about $300 - $600 more on cables.

I definatly viewed all of the reccomended systems. last years and this years. I like several things from each here is why I went with what I did.

Display - LCD I saw it in the store it looked amazing, compared to the other TV's it was nice. I can't use a projector as this room gets to much sunlight. And is a living room. The LCD flat pannel will look great on my TV stand. I liked that I could hook up my computer to it, and it has 1080p resolution, cable card. (I found no reviews on this TV, but my own vision in the store leads me to belive it is the right choice for me!) And the Pioneer Elite PRO-940HD would just stretch me to thin, I already went a littel over on the projected budget, but I figured here is were I would splurge, and I hope to find the mitsu for $2599.

AV- Saw all of the reviews, I know the $7,500 system has the denon that is a very nice reciever, and the yamaha rx 2700 I was looking at. But honestly I am going to use this system to mostly watch movies, I dont need all the fancy settings for concert hall etc. . and I love the simplistic display in the review. I think this could be a cornerstone for a system for a long time. I feel that the 900$ is very well spent here. (I actually upped the budget to get this in here, I was originally going to go with a yamaha HTR-5990 that was a great deal, but in the end the review did me in.
http://www.audioholics.com/buying-guides/system-buying-guides/the-7500-video-centric-system/equipment-product-recommendations I went very lowball on this, but from the sounds of it, this is a higher end, at a low end price, this is actually one of the reasons I upped the rest of the budget, I figured I could cheat a littel bit, since this seemed to be such a great setup. (BTW do I need to request something special to get the hdmi switching?) if so what. I would love to control hdmi switching with the universal remote!

Speakers: I really fell in love with the idea of the axiom's. Getting speakers from a company that makes only speakers sounded great (I am so punny!)! I got a chance to hear some and was very excited, if I could up the budget getting the real wood stained is probably were I would go, but I think this is what I am going to get. I have the room for floor standing, and wanted them, that is another factor driving me to up the budget from 5k to 6k.

Sub: so many people had glowing reviews for this sub, it seems to be in any system, and in a large number of signatures LOL so I am going to do it instead of the Axiom sub. (any reason I should use the axiom one instead?)

DVD Player. Saw this review for a 5k system before christmas, asked for the DVD player, and got it. so this is already done!

Remote, the idea of a radio remote sounds great. I take it I can program it into my Emotiva, including the HDMI switcher? And my cable box. this would be ideal.

Thanks
For all the hard work so many have done, to help me make sure i get the best value for my money. Some of you have spent countless hours chatting with me, and I am sure I will be very pleased with this system when I am done.

So the last stretch is for somebody to tell me what cables I need, and provide the link :) lol so I can actually start hooking some of this stuff up when it gets in!!!

First off, congrats on your system! I have some Axiom M60's and the VP100 center channel and I love them, they match really well, and play well very loud as well as soft. You should be fine using the HSU sub. The only real reason to get the axiom one is because it would match the others visually.

I think for the Emotiva you need to request the external HDMI interface, however, i have heard some people having problems with the HDMI on those units (audio cutouts, picture freezes, etc.). If this is the case, simply hook the HDMI directly to the TV. I'm not sure which remotes will work on the HDMI interface from Emotiva. Might want to call them. I'll let someone else comment on the remote, since i don't know anything about it.

As for cables, you'll probably want to use HDMI for the OPPO, and for digital cable/satellite (if you have more than one HDMI input) if not, you'll have to use component for the cable/sat. Most of us on here do not spend excessive amounts of money on cables. Monoprice, or Bluejeans cables should be fine for you. Since you already have the speaker wire, you're all set there. Enjoy your system!

You can do all your cable shopping at Radio Shack if you want to, The "gold" series. Thats mostly what I have. Another thought, it will not change your sound quality, but given the price you paid for your system you might consider Bluejean custom made cables. Good price and good quality from what I have read here at AH.

The cubic feet of your room could change your sub choice. Very generally, I would go with a 12" sub in a room over 2000 cubic feet. BTW my six year old Hsu VTF-2 is still going strong and handles my 3000 cf room fine for music, and handles LFEs quite well when placed near field. About 4 feet in my case.

Good luck! Sounds like a great system!

Thanks guys, But I am a total newb at cabling this.

I see in the suggested systems they list cables like this. What do I need?

I got the emotiva with the HDMI attachment. so do I need 3 HDMI cables? (this will do the sound and video to my amp/processor?)
1 from cablebox to HDMI switch
1 from Oppo DVD to HDMI switch
1 from Switch to TV
And these are reccomened from DVIGear?

Next the Sub. Is this what I need?
12 FT coax for subwoofer?
Velocity RCA Y-Cable for Subwoofer?

Finally, the speakers front 2 channel, and center channel.
I notice the reccomended systems have 3 - meteora 6ft speaker cables. Whta is the diffrence between these and the cheap stuff I got at lowes to run under the capet?

Thanks

I already ordered my emotiva, axiom speakers, and hsu sub!!! cant wait till they get here. (I settled on the plasma TV for now.)
