Buzz that I think is not ground loop

I have a buzz from my system. When. I Google search, everything says a ground loop issue. I don't think it is the problem, but may be wrong, reason I'm here. I have isolated the receiver from.evrything, plugged into its own putlet, and the only thing plugged into the receiver is 2 speakers, no tv, DVD player or anything. Buzz coming from both speakers.

Are you certain that there is nothing else on that circuit?

Maybe fluorescent lights, a refrigerator, or lights with a dimmer switch?

Does you AVR have a 2-prong plug or a 3-prong plug?

Well, I'm agreeing that it does not seem to be a ground loop.

I think the next thing you need to do is to figure out what else may be on the circuit that may be causing the problem.

You may also consider trying an extension cord to various other outlets to see if you have an outlet that does not have the buzz.

You could also have a faulty AVR, bad filter caps, or other issues there.

Does this buzz happen at any time of day/night or all the time, not time sensitive?
Are you sure there is nothing plugged into it except the speakers? A powered sub perhaps?
Old or new/er receiver?
Does it change volume with the volume control?

If it's on, then it's buzzes, day or night. I unplugged everything to it while troubleshooting. It is an older receiver.

The 3 likely causes are:
- Interference from other devices motors (especially variable speed ones), ballasts (e.g. fluorescent types), including those on separate ccts.
- defective components.
- ground loops.

The first one is easy to eliminate/prove obviously.

Has this always done this? Did you just hook this up and it buzzed from the start?

If it started humming just recently after having used the receiver/amp for quite a while, that would likely be caused by a leaky filter capacitor in the power supply.

It has a power supply fault and needs service to isolate it. That receiver is not worth the expense, so it is a recycling job.
