Buying used SVS

Any advice if its safe to buy a year old svs product. I know the warranty is good but is a lot of money when you are talking about an Ultra. I almost bought the PB13 Ultra new but held off with the recent economic downturn and there are used ones poppin up every day. People getting layed off etc. I can basically get a used Ultra for the price of a new Plus. advice?

I say go for it, if it's still under warranty you are good to go. SVS has some of the absolute best customer service in the industry as many others on here will tell you. The Ultra is a beast, I recently got one, as did a friend of mine, you will not be dissapointed.

I have has good luck buying much of my equipment used or factory refurbished. SVS will honor warranty just fine although I doubt you will need it. Their reputation is outstanding and a good way to get good equipment at a fair price.

As other have already said....the reputation SVS has built speaks for itself....but should have the need for a warranty issue they will honor it without issue. So in that regard, have no worries with buying used. But if you can find a used Ultra, I would take it over the new Plus. Although, it just depends on the size of your room and levels you wish to attain--a new plus might be more than enough depending on such factors. Although is you buy a PB13 used, be prepared to pay alot more than the $99 shipping SVS charges, as when I was considering selling mine the shipping quotes often came out in the $200 ballpark. In which case it might make more sense to just look for one in the b-stock section or go with the new Plus....

Mesojdm...you need to keep your eye on the classified sections on similar audio forums as here...as well as checking out Audiogon where there is one for sale at the moment and also on the b-stock page at SVS as well...
