I also believe that it is legal to buy from them, and doubt the FBI has any power to shut them down or stop us from using them. They would have already if they could!
Your right. They do not currently have the power. But you know damn well the record lobbies are pressuring their representatives to pressure the Russians in to closing these loop-holes. Better Dload as much as you can, as fast as you can because this won't go on forever.

I read somewhere that allofmp3 made a deal with major copyrights owners in Russia. I don't think offering a good deal is stealing ~ only a more sensible (compared to itunes) way of buying mp3's. Besides, they carry hard to find music (in North America) that I couldn't get from my local HMV.

My understanding is that allofmp3.com does pay artists, just not the record labels - they are not selling records, so that makes sense.

Something has to change with the iTunes model. They are charging almost as much as a "real" CD to just download a semi-low bitrate file that you can keep on your hard drive for a while. I've got a lot of CD's that are older than my oldest working hard disk.

Another point - if copyrights are so important, rather than physical media, why can't we trade in all our LP's & VHS's for CD's & DVD's, for the cost of the raw media?

RIAA should not be fighting digital media. They should be competing in the market place.

has anyone checked out www.musicgiants.com Their selection is not the greatest but they said it would get better. I wonder if this would sound good hooked from my PC to receiver via digital coax cable.
