I Just moved back from Europe and now I am moving into my own place and I dont have a TV(cant really call a 1000 year old 22inch CRT a proper tv nowadays i guess), here are some specifics to work with.

budget : 2000
primary use: ps3 games and bluray movies (dont really watch television)
needs to be 1080p for obvious reasons ^

Room is square shaped i dont have specifics yet but i would guess from side wall to side wall is 14feet give or take a couple. to the right is a glass sliding door leading to the balcony but can be covered with blinds to control light. I am not really concerned about picture quality for regular television because i dont watch tv usually, but i am for the ps3 for games and movies. the 22inch crt i have now isnt doing the ps3 any justice. Best Buy has their mitsubishi 73 inch dlp tv's for $700 off, bringing it right to my 2000 budget. That's like 6 feet of screen. I am trying to find a hell of a deal and get the best bang for my buck. my brother has a samsung 1080p dlp thats 56inch and a samsung 720p 42inch plasma with 1,000,000:1 contrast, and my parents copied him and bought the same plasma themselves just recently for 800-900 bucks. both TV's look nice but my brother only watches TV and regular dvd's on his screens, so i dont know how they look for my applications. because of my extremely limited time watching TV on them just to see high def tv, i know that the jump is huge from my TV to theirs so i doubt i will notice any subtle difference from 20,000:1 to 30,000:1 contrast ratio or whatever, like some people who have extensive experience with HDTV's. I just say "wow that looks a helluvalot better than my TV"

I would like to see a good comparison of the 3 TV technologies and then go from there. 95% of the time the TV will be used for blu-ray movies and ps3 games. All are 1080p

DLP:
mitsubishi 73inch : $2000

LCD:
Sharp 52inch LC52SB55U : $1800
Samsung 52inch LN52A550: $2000

Plasma:
Samsung 50inch PN50A650 : $1800
Panasonic 50inch TH-50PZ85U : $1950

those are the TV's i am looking at. To me there is propbably little difference in PQ since I am going from a Sanyo 22inch CRT to an HDTV, so they are all a huge upgrade, im not going from HDTV to better HDTV so I cant really tell much difference between the sets other than the dlp is massive and the others are flatter.

When I was researching tv's, I came across this site that explains LCD vs. Plasma vs. DLP and added it to favorites. http://www.plasma.com/classroom/LCD_tv_versus_plasma_tv.htm

It can explain the differences/pros/cons much better than I can lol. I hope it's not biased as its plasma.com, but it didn't come off like that to me. Good luck with your decision!
