I could really use some help...

I am looking to buy a new reciever (possibly speakers as well) for my husband for Christmas under 1K. He is very set on Yamaha so will stick with that. Here is the scoop - we bought a reciever about 5 years ago (RX-V793) Well low & behold about a year later - it was obsolute due to not enough inputs. So, looking to upgrade - he likes the latest & greatest - but I would like to find something that will be worth the money but with as much bells & whistles. We mainly watch TV - some DVD's - very little audio only. I got him Infinty front & center speakers several years ago and we have Boston for rear. So we have a 5.1 setup. My prefrence is a 7.1 with 2 room capability. Any suggestions - I have looked at the 2500 / 2400 / 1500 / 1400 / 5790 & 5760 ???

you would save a little by going with the 2400, but will get a lot more flexibility on the 2500 for the extra $ 60 to 80 and you would still only be at about $ 750.

with what's left over, you could pick up a small speaker set-up like this to put in your bedroom with the old RX-V793, basically getting two complete systems and still be under budget.

Leprkon hit the nail on the head. 2400/2500. And what a steal on those Velodyne.
