Hey guys, I am currently running a Yamaha RXV681 7.2 AVR. I want to upgrade to more channels and add height speakers. I am running Canton Chrono SL 596.2 Towers and center for the front with dual PB3000’s. I can purchase a used 6500 for $700. This will give me the channels I need and more power in my front speakers. It also has pre outs and the sub outs are independent for bass management.

My issue is, I’m a gamer and will be getting a PS5. Obviously this won’t have the 2.1 HDMI, I will need in the future. That being said, it’s a great price. Should I pull the trigger on this, or just wait and get a 2020 model, but pay much more. I want to run a 7.2.4 setup ultimately, so any suggestions welcome. Thanks guys.

The price is right. Just need to be sure all the amp sections work. As far as the PS5, plug it into the TV and use the audio out on the TV to the receiver.

If the seller has all 11 channels and subs hooked up, I would go into Speakers:Levels and see if a tone is produced on each channel. Usually the first thing to break is the internal amps so this test would ease my mind.

Well I'd dispute that the usual problem where an avr breaks, despite your recent issues, is the amp section. Testing out a used (or new) avr otoh in all modes when you first get one, though, is a good idea... :) The price is nice on that 6500 if everything is good, tho.
