Burning with Apple

I find when I burn using iTunes, the CD is like 10db lower than the original files and dynamics seem compressed. I use Toast or Burn to burn the same exact tunes and play it on the same system and presto, problem is gone. I'm guessing it has something to do with the sound checker. Does iTunes burn with DRC on or something? Anyone else experience this?

Go to advanced and then the burning tab and uncheck the use sound check box. That is the only thing that could be causing it that I know of.

Just to expand on Jeffsg4mac - the Advanced tab is located under the Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced.

Under the "Playback" tab, you'll see "soundcheck" described as follows:

Automatically adjusts song playback volume to the same level.

I'd definitely uncheck the "Soundcheck" option. Just another step that monkeys with the file...
