I just received my G 10 46 inch Panasonic yesterday. Boy is it heavy ! Though NOT as heavy as my old Sanyo 27 inch which has now been relegated to the upstairs bedroom of our son for when he's home from college :)

To break in the screen, I'm running a Comcast cable movie channel on "zoom" to eliminate the channel logo (an "Encore" channel). The picture mode is on THX.

It ran all last night before I realized I should take the receiver out of the loop and just connect the cable box directly to the G 10 (through my APC surge protector, of course).

Any thoughts, reactions or suggestions for doing it differently? The general received wisdom around here is to run this for 200 hours. Is that still correct?

The picture quality is quite good (of course ANYTHING will look better than our old 27 incher). The THX does seem a bit dim, but perhaps we will get used to it. I did increase the brightness some, and that helped.

46 inches is just about the right size - anything bigger and I would have gotten some resistance from my financial advisor / decoration consultant (read: wife).

You'll be fine

Your planned method of break-in is fine.

But you could use a break-in dvd or file set to do it in 120 hrs with the objective of achieving an even aging of all the phosphors. The merits of various break-in methods have been discussed Ad nauseam over at AVS, if you want to read some of that you can start here or here.
