Im sure that most everybody has heard of this by now but if not here's the skinny.

A man named Joe Horn witnessed 2 men breaking into his neighbors home, like a good neighbor he called the cop's,while talkin to the cops on the phone he saw the burgulars getting away, instead of cowering in his home he went outside with a shotgun & dropped them in their tracks,i love it:D

Joe is my new hero, hopefully somebody will start a legal fund for him,if that happens i'll be on the donation list.

Hear the actual 911 call & the punks getting planted.

What's going to get that guy in trouble is when he tells the dispatcher "I'm going to kill them".

Glad he got them myself.

The biggest problem I see is he admitted that he had the intent to kill the burgulars. "I'm gonna go outside and kill them."

He was told to stay inside and not to confront them but chose not to.
Doesn't look good for claiming "self defense".

See now thats exactly what my wife & I thought till we read some more about this, the laws in Texas have been changed as of september,a citizen may now use deadly force to stop a burgulary & the burgulary need not be in his own home.

So that is why he was yelling at the dispatcher about September. :D

What i like the most about this so far is that he has not been arrested or detained,if this was where i live (Michigan) he'd of been arrested on the spot & be sittin in jail on murder 1 charges, then i'd have to see the punks aunts & uncles on the news proclaiming how good these burgulars really were & how they didnt deserve to be gunned down.

Give it a few days, this incident will be turned into a racial mess by the usual groups:rolleyes:

I suppose that I'm just an old softy. My typical reaction is an eye for an eye. Taking a life over some possessions goes beyond what I consider justice for a majority of possessions (like stereos, TVs...anything that can be readily replaced). Beating the living crap out of the people...now, I can get behind that.

Your looking at it differently than i am,its not about what they stole its about where they did it,they invaded somebodies home, where they live, where their children play & sleep, where that family went to be safe, not any more, their lives will never be the same, they will worry every night from now on if some drugged out fool is going to come through their window, both of the deceased were drug addicts btw.

Both of them idiots were balsy enough to still try & run from a guy with a loaded shotgun, just imagine what they would of done if confronted by a family member who just happened to be home at the time & caught them in the act.Its not about possesions its about stopping a couple of punks who are nothing but trouble to every honest person they meet or have met.

I can tell you from personal experience from when i did time, people who break into homes are usualy the worst & most dangerous criminals around & end up committing the most henious crimes in the end, those 2 would of continued on their crime spree that day after they smoked more crack with the money they got from the b&e,i'd be willing to bet on it.

I saw this being discussed on TV last night. He may also be at odds with the new law too as it only pertains to your own property, not the neighbors. He could have taken pictures of these guys, license numbers if they had a car, etc. He may face a civil lawsuit from family even if no criminal charges are made.

It will be interesting to see what the Grand Jury comes back with. I think Mr. Horn overstepped his bounds. He did take two lives that he didn't have to.

On the flip side... I would be FREAKED out if I saw my neighbor get broken into, called 911 and while waiting they got away. I would be living in a state of "Am I next?"

If your going to go out and confront them, I wouldn't go out with anything less than loaded for bear. Forget taser, mace, pepper spray. For me, I wouldn't go out.

I think the less than savory element may think twice (hopefully) before robbing or burglarizing. Bottom line is all parties involved took their chances and lost. Hell of a price to pay for B&E.

As my father and uncle used to say (both retired cops),
"Better to be tried by twelve than carry by six."

But in this case I think the guy is in for trouble. His actions will surely be looked at as premeditated. His only hope will be if the burgulars did indead threaten him on his property when he went outside.

1. Sucks to be him. Family of the burglars is going to have him in and out of court for decades.

2. While it means very little to you now, since you'll likely be spending the next several years defending yourself legally, I'd like to say "Thanks".

Another case of vigilante justice preventing a cascading effect of future crime, not only by those two chuckleheads, but anyone in the future those chuckleheads may have spawned or influenced. Its like a butterfly effect of good.

I'm surprised the ACLU hasn't jumped into the fray, claiming that the burglars' civil rights were violated! After they were bagged they should've hanged them at city hall as a warning to other would-be robbers and rapists.
