bunch of easy questions

an pre-amp is the proccesor that is found in a reciever, but separate from the amp right?

why go with amp+pre amp over reciever for my system-running axiom's m22tis (min 10 watts max 200 Watts at 8 ohms) and SVS 25-31PCi+ (500 watts at 4 ohms-comes with or without amp) and will probably expand to some type of surround sound speakers in the future.

where can i find a good site reviewing amps/pre-amps/recievers.

anyone have any suggestions on recievers etc. that will fit my setup?

bunch of easy (or not) answers:

pre-amp normally is a separate piece of processor/line amp. This function is built-in in receivers.

by going pre+power amp, you have more choices/flexibility to tailer the system you want but much more costly vs. receiver in most cases. I personally will NOT go to that route because of performance/price ratio.

Here on Audioholics there are some very good reviews on receivers. You may also found more general reviews on www.audiogon.com and www.audioasylum.com.

Recommendations for receiver: go with Yamaha RX-V series, best bang for the buck!

just my 2 cents.
