All-
I'm in the process of having a gameroom/media room (no windows) built right now in my house (sheetrock goes up tomorrow) and I need some recommendations!
Here are the vitals.
What I have:
62" Mitsubishi 1080p (wobulated) DLP (18 months old)
No a/v equip or speakers (not moving the old ones into this room)
The room:
A little small ... usuable space will be about 15x14, will use the 15' run for viewing, TV screen will be flush with the wall. I estimate viewing distance will be roughly 12-13'.
Couch (not purchased yet) will be against back wall for max viewing distance. The room will be used as a playroom by my daughter too so it's not a dedicated media room (open staircase but no windows or other natural lighting). Angled ceiling along roofline up to 10', 10' section will be about 5' across.
What I want:
Nice, low to mid-range system, receiver, speakers, sub. HDMI switching would be nice (I may get a PS/3 and have DISH network HD and my tv only has one 1080i HDMI input). I'd like front speakers that are flush with the wall so they don't stand out in the room if possible (as the TV will be flush with the wall). A complete set of speakers/sub/receiver (sold together) is cool with me. I can't afford to go audiophile whole-hog
. I'd also like surround speakers that are flush to the wall as well. The couch will be on the back wall so the viewer's head will be only slightly in front of them - would Bose cubes or something angled down be better in that case? I think that in this room, THX and the like are a waste, and I doubt 7+1 will buy me much either.
So that being said, I'm pretty open for suggestions!
Any help would be appreciated. Both in the setup of the room, system, as well rec's for specific units/speakers, etc.
I will use the room for loud movie watching and gaming but also for just watching TV.
Time is short!
Thanks!
