Building an addition, need advice...

My current room measures 20' (E&W walls) x 12' (N&S walls), with a vaulted ceiling peaking 10' in the middle and sloping to 8' on the N&S walls.

I am going to knock down the East wall and will make the addition, actually just making the room larger.

My TV, fronts and center will be on the 20' east wall of the room, (no other choice) and the system will be a 55-60" TV connected to my current amp/reciever and Axiom M80s, QS8s and M60s for rear surrounds in a 7.1 system.

My question is what size would be ideal for this setup, I'm not understanding room dynamics too much other than perfectly square is not the way to go. I have plenty of room for the addition/expasion so there is not too much of a limiting factor there.

Any suggestions?

Right - cube is worst, square is second worse. :D

There are several favorable ratios, and if you can follow one of them you'll have a head start on getting decent bass. These are the ratios commonly accepted as "good," and you can read more in my Acoustics FAQ:

1 : 1.14 : 1.39
1 : 1.26 : 1.59
1 : 1.28 : 1.54
1 : 1.30 : 1.90
1 : 1.40 : 1.90
1 : 1.50 : 2.10
1 : 1.50 : 2.50
1 : 1.60 : 2.33
