I'm looking for some suggestions, I'm pretty well versed in actually putting A/V systems together and working kinks out and I've gotten into collecting vinyl the past couple of years.
I've been getting by with my dad's old Fisher MT-273 table but I'm looking for an upgrade...I would like to move to an audiophile grade turntable but I need some suggestions as I'm not familiar with much of turntable history. I've read a lot of good things about music hall, rega, and proJect tables. But I've read just as many bad things about these brands and their lower to mid-range (price-wise) tables.
Due to my budget I'm not really looking to spend over $500 on the table. I've consistently seen reveiws and threads suggesting to look up vintage high-end and audiophile tables like the Technics SL-1700 and Pioneer/Dual 510 models. Most reviews call the sturdy nature of these tables and the heavy weight of both the table and platter that keeps fidelity high and distracting noise to a minimum. So please educate, suggest, whatever but please lead me to a good table/cartridge that won't slaughter my budget.
