Hi,
I'm building a new home theater. Here's what I was thinking of using. Please let me know if you'd make changes, recommendations, etc. Thanks

Sherbourn 7/2100A amp
Sherbourn PT-7010A processor
Denon 3910 DVD
4 Revel I20 side and rear speakers
Revel Gem fronts, Revel Voice center
Revel B15A sub
Sanyo Z4 projector
and a 106" screen (Da-Lite, Draper, Stewart?)

Any feedback, recommendations, etc.?

Also, would you buy the Sanyo Z4 or similar now and get a HD 1080p projector later in a couple years, or would you spend the extra coin and go to a Benq 8720, Dwin T4, Infocus 7210, etc. now? Remember, the room won't be finished/used until Thanksgiving.

Thanks!

If you expect to be finished next November then I would leave the projector purchase towards the end. In video equipment much of the new stuff is released during the summer leading up to fall so I would expect that the selection and pricing might improve by fall. Each generation of projector seems to be better and less expensive. You might have to design flexibilty into where you mount your projector but that is a good thing for future upgrades anyway.

Just my thoughts. Have fun.

Thanks! This was my thought about the projector as well. I really was thinking of waiting until the 1080p projectors came out and dropped in price before spending a bundle on them. I figure, $2k for now.

HT ideas

The sanyo Z4 is a great LCD projector option. You might also put the Optima HD72 DLP on your short list.

I am not familiar with the Sherboun model #s, but some of their processors and amps share that same internals as the products offered by Outlaw Audio for significantly less. The Emotiva MPS-1 is also a great 200W x 7 channel amp for $2k from av123.com

Not familiar with the Revel speakers, but if you post a budget, you will get plenty of suggestions.

That looks like an excellent setup. As others have said, wait on the projector purchase so you can get a better price on the one you want. As for a screen, you might want to think about Carada.

Thanks for the replies so far. I went to another shop today and they were pushing denon receiver and Boston Acoustics ceiling speakers. I wish there was a place I could demo lots of high end stuff at one location. It seems like the most you ever get to demo is 2 different setups. I'll check out the Outlaw stuff, Carada screen, and Emotiva.
The revel speakers are pretty much the top of the food chain.

Thanks again! and any additional feedback welcome!
