Hello everyone, I am trying to decide on either to build or buy 15" 3way cabinets for music but i lack the product knowledge or how to utilize most of the charts that come with drivers. my main goal is to out do my dads jbl cf150'spowered by McIntosh MC60's. I know i cant afford to afford to out perform the amp so i will have to make up for it with the speakers. Here is what i have gathered already from internet land.
for the build i could get really beautiful boxes about 6 cu ft built for 250 or so by my friends dad who does the nicest wood work i have seen. Also 4ohm lf driver with 8ohm mid and hf driver will it work properly?
with these for divers from parts express

Dayton Audio RS28F-4 1-1/8" Silk Dome Tweeter
Dayton Audio RS225P-8 8" Reference Paper Woofer 8 Ohm
Dayton Audio DC380-8 15" Classic Woofer /or/ Eminence 15" Poly Cone Woofer 4 Ohm
so 380 or so for divers, 250 for the cabinets plus the cost of components to make crossovers

or i could just get 2 Bic ev15 ready to go cabinets for 280 each

for an amp i have an onkyo A9050 that has 75wpc rms

So what do you guys think? Are there better products out that i have over looked? I want to shake the walls off the foundation without sacrificing sound quality and still have it sound great at low volume levels.

thanks in advance.

I would strongly advise you to consider a well designed kit speaker, where the technical details have been thoroughly figured out. Speaker design is a complex endeavor, and a poorly conceived DIY speaker will have poor results.

In the last year or so I built a pair of Tempests, which, while fairly budget, are shockingly good for big ol' bangin' monkey coffins.
