Budget system blues

I appreciate your help. I'm on a tight budget and I'm not satisfied with my system. I've got an lg-esteem, ms-910, phone that
's the center of my system. My carrier is Meteo PCS. I micro-mini HDMI it to my 3 2" RCA flat screen TV. From there I digital audio out my TV to a sony str da3100es receiver and the receiver, running 3.0, pushes a pair of Bose 901 series IV speakers and a center channel Boston Acoustics VR MC. The problem with the sound quality might be the fact that everything comes from my phone. I've got a google acct. where I buy music and it sounds good, I patch my phone over and Netflix sound quality is definitely la cking. I'm so cheap that I won't pay for cable. I am a beginner and I would like some input on improveing the sound quality from my Netflix acct.

SysAdmin may be onto something. I've been hearing a lot of neat things about ChromeCast.

As for Netflix sound quality - it may or may not be your setup. Streaming services like netflix offer varying levels of audio quality (many programs on Netflix only offer stereo) and Netflix also dynamically changes its video and, presumably, audio quality based on the current network conditions. In other words, streaming audio is not always the highest fidelity audio. With a broad library like netflix offers, there could also be deficiencies in the native recording that was provided form the studio to Netflix. Netflix doesn't really give the user a whole lot of options related to streaming quality.

You may do some searches for your phone to see what audio formats it supports (both input and output) and ensure it's outputting a signal your receiver can take full advantage of.
