Budget sub recommendations...

With a 400 budget or less, what would be the best bang for the buck subs? Space is limited, but going with dual subs for more even room response. Not looking to shake the walls or such, just to extend the response of the mains.
So, looking to go with two smaller vs one larger. Thoughts? Suggestions? TIA

I've been through the low-powered sub route before. Myself, I won't dip below a 500 watt on a 12" driver ever again whether for me, a loved one or a friend. It just seems to make such a huge difference in response.

Useful info guys Thanks ;). I looked up those Dayton subs..the 1200 might be too big for him. The 1000 might be the right size.
In my short research time I came across the ML Dynamo 300 subs. Smaller driver and weaker amp, but got good reviews overall and inexpensive. I'm not familiar with ML subs. How do they compare to the daytons??

I would go with dual Dayton 1200 subs.

I gave him the options/suggestions that was mentioned here for him to look into and research.
He told me that he has about 16" of space on each side of his tv/media stand to put the subs. There is no other space other than that.
He was initially looking at the Pio SW 8-Mk2 to accommodate the BS22s he currently has, but I advised him to wait as there were other better options to consider. But, now I can see why he was looking at that particular sub..its size.
I'm thinking the sub-1000 or the ML Dynamo 300 might be a better fit for him due to his available space. You think?

One thing you both must consider: A sub is very placement sensitive. Since you've got one place, and one place only, to put it, your end result may be extremely compromised. Generally, experimenting with placement can make the difference between liking the sub or not. i.e, a well placed mediocre sub may work out better than a fine sub in the wrong location.

Yeah I agree, and I told him that as well ;)
