My parents just got some paradigm titans and are looking at hooking the up to their tv/dvd player. They will use them for movies and music. I really know very little about what is out there for 2 channel receivers. They are only looking at spending $100-150. Any recommendations? Thanks

The only recvr that you could get (that you would care to own)for that amount would be the Sony STR-DE197. For a little more $220-250 you could get the HK 3380.

They might want to look around for a JVC RX-ES1SL . You can often get them on Ebay for well under $150 shipped. One pretty knowledgeable regular at AC uses a similar $275 JVC with a $4,500 digital front end ( ) and is very happy with it. They're very compact and are very energy efficient, too.

Onkyo - TX 8211 - 199.00 would work quite well.

I'll second the TX-8211. the 50 wpc rating is very conservative.

do some shopping on ebay. there are tons of good deals to be found on there. dont be afraid of used stuff if the seller's got a good rating. i just picked up a Yamaha reciever for $150 that is great. in the $100-150 range, try to go for a used denon or onkyo.
