Budget Home Theater With Phono Input

Hi,

A complete newb to home theater here. I was looking at some budget 'all in one' 5.1 packages---you know--- 5DVD player, tuner, speakers in a box.

Wanted to get the Panasonic 700 or the Samsump PT38 because they have wireless rear speakers. BUT, then I noticed they have like sod all for inputs. For example, it doesn't look like -any- of the low priced units have an RIAA phone pre input. Whassup with that?

Are there any budget systems like this that have a good ol' fashioned phono in so I can still play vinyl when I like without having to have a whole 2nd system?

TIA,

---JC

Manufacturers seem to only include phono inputs on their higher models and you won't likely find phono inputs on any HTIB systems.

However, you can buy a phono pre-amp for your turntable (or buy a turntable with a built-in pre-amp) and connect it to any line level input (tape, cd, aux, etc).

Hey thanks for that.

I downloaded the manual on the Samsung and it does indeed have two 'Aux' stereo audio inputs, so I assume I can go to Radio Shack and get an RIAA pre and stick my phono and cassette players into those.

Thanks!

....SunTower, you need the RIAA pre only for the phono....the cassette player's output is high impedence already.....

What is your budget?

You can probably do much better than a HTIB. Reply with budget and room specs for recommendations.
