Atom - 189.00 pr
Titan - 219.00 pr

These are two of the best speakers money can buy at these price points. Take a listen and you will understand.

Cheers,

I can't speak to the JBL's or Infinity's...never heard them or read much about them. However, my brother was in your position of having a really tight budget, but wanted some decent sound. He went with a pair of Polk Monitor 30's. At $200, I think he got his money's worth. They don't have a lot of extension, but most in this range won't seeing as they'll mostly have 5 1/4" drivers. I have B&W DM601's for my mains with an SVS PB10-ISD sub hadling the low duties, but I must admit, his Polk's sounded pretty sweet, even when comparing back to mine...and knowing they're only $200, how could you complain. If you want to stretch a little, a lot of people have raved about axiom's. I know you can get their M2i bookshelf for $280/pr. If it were me though, knowing that you'd want to add a sub to your bookshelf set up for more low end umph, I'd got with the Athena's. My local Best Buy sells 'em for $150 or so. They're built well, and have a nice neutral sound. I don't know what you can get for $150 that will even come close to them.

It slipped my mind completely, but anamorphic above chimed in as I was typing. I'd absolutely second his notion. I totally spaced on Paradigm's Performance series. Really, really nice speakers right in your budget. You should definitely consider them.

I had athena's asb1's and b2's they sound great especially for the price. I bought f2's and now I use the b2's for my l/r surrounds. I can not say enough about the build quality and overall sexyness of athena's lineup. My suggestion would be to go with the b2's which will run you from 180$ to 250$. I payed 100$ for my b1's and 180$ for my b2's and the b2's definetly justify the higher price. What reciever are you running?

here is my story,

im a guy from HTIB, of course i dont know anything about HZ, KHZ & X-OVERS, long dream is a bose (luckily i went to this forum before i fall into the trap), now i have a set of WHARFEDALE MOVIESTAR 70 5.1 & ONKYO SR502, everything is perfect for me & perfect for my budget especially the WAF, & i live on an apartment thats why a simple one is ample for me

after reading & research on this forum ive found out that my satellites is quite short in range (100-20khz), thats why im planning to replace it w/ a bookshelf & place on the old to the back to serve as a back rear for a complete 6.1

so here are your suggestions, & ill do my research again

PARADIGM ATOM or TITAN
Polk Monitor 30
Athena b2

anymore??

I just got a pair of Polk RTI6's for my rear surrounds. I think you would be hard pressed to find better in the $300 range.

Paradigm isn't offered online.

From their website:
Paradigm® and Paradigm® Reference are only sold through Authorized Dealers. These are the finest in the market and have the expertise and facilities to demonstrate the superior performance and Unparalleled value of our products!

Paradigm® and Paradigm® Reference products are not available mail-order!

Warning: Any product purchased from an unauthorized dealer does not carry a factory warranty!
I too was looking for their stuff online to see if I could get a discount because I didn't want to pay the MSRP. I only found them on ebay.

Another good set of small bookshelf speakers are NHT SB1. msrp of $150 each but I found a place that sells them for $210 a pair online.

Used is the only way you'll find Paradigm on the internet. Paradigm does not allow its dealers to sell online.

Paradigm doesn't sell their equipment online. Try also NHT SB1s and 2s (I actually have a used set of SB2 in great shape that I'd sell right around your budget) and Energy C1s...those are by far my two favs in that price range (i've heard B&W, Boston, Paradigm, Polk, Infinity, and Athena)

6th ave btw is where I originally ordered my NHTs...don't carry them anymore, but they are a good company.
