My HT is used 100% for movies & TV only. The components sit in a nook that's 13'Wx5.5'D. Because of the 5.5'D nook, the room is an irregular "L" shape and the theater dimensions are roughly 20'Dx25'W. Along the back wall, I have sliding glass doors covered with heavy drapes, and two windows are on the back wall, but they're off to the side.

The TV is a 65" HD-Mitsubishi, and the I use a Yamaha RX-V2500 as the audio hub. The front speakers are Klipsch RF-82 fronts, and RC-62 Center.

I have a SVS PB12-Plus/2 subwoofer, and Klipsch RF52 towers for surround speakers. I use a Samsung HD-Sat box for my TV signals, and a Sony p-scan DVD player. I also have a small set of speakers wall mounted on the back wall above the sliding glass doors to round out the 7.1 HT setup. I have them, and my center speaker aimed down into the seating area. As you can see in the photo, I also have a small antenna to receive my local channel HD-programming over the air. Im fortunate to live in an area where I can easily get all my local channels with a small set of rabbit ears.

PS.....I really love that Sub too!! That mutha can dish out effortless clean bass without even breaking a sweat. It doesnt even blink at even the most demanding movie soundtracks. Creating a 'rattle-proof' environment however wasnt so easy. After much toil and effort, my HT is now completely rattle free:D For my movie application, I really like the new Reference line of Klipsch speakers too because they're very detailed and natural sounding to my ears. For my personal tastes in movie-sound, they were exactly what I was looking for.

This is the view looking towards the back of the room and my L-surround. There is a short hallway that dead ends into a spare bedroom with a full bath off to the side.

A nice added feature of the HT is that it's secluded from the rest of the house. It's located in a walkout lower level thats away from the upstairs bedrooms which means I can listen at reasonably high volumes at night without disturbing kiddies who may be sleeping upstairs.

My latest HT project envolves a complete re-decoration of the room into a movie theme. We plan to paint the walls in a DARK red-velvet color and decorate with movie posters and various objects that fit with the movie theme. I also plan to incorporate room acoustic treatments as well. Luckily, there is enough stuff in the room that the room isnt overly bright as things are now, but treating room acoustics are an absolute must. The little girl hamming it up in the photos is my daughter, and she loves watching movies with her daddy in our very own HT:)

nice setup, I wish I woulda went with the 65" for just a few hundred more, but it wouldn't have really fit in my dorm room well

Thanks.

Getting a TV that size 'up to' your dorm room would be a daunting task in itself because it weighs 350lbs. It's big and bulky enough that it's hard to grab ahold of to carry. Fortunately, it has wheels so I can easily pull it from the wall if I need to change my wiring.

Setup looks good!

Odd question....but do you run the Klipsch with the grills off all the time or just for "effect" for the photo-shoot?

I know a few people that do run without the grills, just wondering if you're one of them. I could never do that with three 60lb+ dogs running around.:D

Yea, no kidding!! I have two kids, so covering them is a must.

I run mine with the grills off, but no kids or pets to mess them up

Buc;

Rather than firing the sub driver at the listening area, try firing it towards the back wall and see if it further smooths out bass response. Its a good trick that can sometimes help.

Gene,

The SVS subwoofer is a downfiring unit.

Nice HT. Now you can just link it from your signature, instead of having that ugly list....

My HT has undergone a massive makeover over the past couple weeks.(since the above photos) Every single decoration is gone, dark red paint, 10 GIK 244 acoustic panels, etc, etc.....

It looks like a completely different place:D I have some photos being developed at a nearby 1hr photo place as I type, and I'll probably post the changes tomorrow.

Gotta love those reference series speakers.

Just curious what you thought about the RSW15?

Nicely done! Congratulations!!!!

I have a SVS sub:cool:

BTW...page over, because my HT has undergone a major overhaul.

See the See the "B.nut...Makeover" thread......

Anyway, I have the SVS PB12-Plus/2......and have no complaints. I think it's pretty nasty.

I am surprised you never auditioned it with the rest of your Klipsch system?

I was hoping to hear why you picked the SVS over the RSW15.

The main difference is that the dual driver SVS is in a much larger ported enclosure that lets it go much lower during those tough movie soundtracks. Dont get me wrong because the RSW is also a quality built sub, but the two subs are sort of apples to oranges comparison because they're two completey different types of subwoofer designs.

On the other hand, the smaller sized front firing klipsch subs tend to be favored more by the hard core music enthusists. However, both are quality subs. They can hold their own as well, only they dont go as low. While it's true that you cannot hear sounds below 20hz, but you can certainly feel them.

The RSW15 isnt in the same league as the PB12-Plus/2. Im also not a fan of undersized sealed front firing subs. I love the Klipsch loudspeakers, but their subwoofers arent very good.
Its a bass reflex subwoofer, not sealed. It uses a passive radiator. Its the only design that can have low end with a small box.

I deleted and edited that response because I didnt want to knock Klipsch subs(not to mention break forum rules). When I first read my post, I thought it looked really bad because Klipsch does make a quality product.

I think Klipsch make a well made musical sub that has a big following of music lovers everywhere. When it comes to movie applications, the PB12-Plus2 is in a different league. I misspoke when I said Klipsch wasnt very good, and that's why I deleted the message. I expecially didnt want to knock Wescotts subwoofer of choice. So for that.... I apologize.
