Seems like not too many JBL people here. Kind of a small group too... Only ones I am curious about at the moment are the new Studio L series.

LOL

I wouldn’t make that assumption.:D

Compact and easy to install the JBL control series 5 has been very useful with fair quality in loudness and bass mid for the past 18 years now and the JBL 4645 for the last 8 years as been a pleasurable experience to hear and feel with KICK SLAM and drop down DEEP abyssal delight that has made the low end from the first nights showing of Star Trek First Contact back in 1998 sound more like a cinema.

More recently the JBL control 1 installation has been so easy in fact too easy to install with good all round cinema lifelike surround.

JG,

don't be so rude, dude;) :D ;) :D ;) :D

Perhaps we can persuade you to become the "third JBL element guy", right after listening to the Studio L's, though, LOL.

Cheers.

For god's sake, we need the "fifth element" most desperately:p :p :p

Somehow I don't think the Studio Ls will be taking the place of my GR A/V-2s anytime soon. :) I don't have a problem with JBLs, but they aren't my cup of tea mate.

I always liked the look of the TIKs, but never had a chance to hear them. A little out of my budget...

If you've counted 4 JBL owners already then we can go beyond the 5th element. I still have JBL and IIRC Tomorrow also has JBL - that makes at least six.

I'll be upgarding soon (decided to wait to see what SVS' new offering will be like) and most likely won't be getting more JBLs. It's not because I don't like their sound but more the fact that I want to try something new.

I bet there are a bunch of "closet" JBL owners here.. : )

Actually I'm out of the closet. I bought in the 80's some 240Ti's and love them still. I use an S-Center for the center channel and a 4645C pro subwoofer to shake the walls. I've got pro-performers for the surrounds- but I'd really like to find a set of 18Ti's to replace the pro-peformers... they haven't been made for years though, so if I find any on ebay etc I will make a serious attempt at them.

Since I've found this sight though - I've gotten extremely curious about the offerings from AV123 for the speakers and SVS for the subs... Its not that I don't like the sound of my system - but I wonder if the grass is greener on the other side. From what I've read an seen (but not heard) the AV123 speakers -xls and rocket series seem like an amazing deal with high quality workmanship to boot.

Who knows - maybe someday I'll jump.

I vote yes

I have 2 sets of JBLs and have just posted a tweak I did to my L-88s. There are plenty of JBL stuff on E-bay and many ways for someone to get excellent results by refubing old equipment. Go over to the vintage group over in Audioasylum. Also the Toels guy in Denmark is doing some interesting stuff on his website (can't remember the exact name-sorry) with upgrading JBLs.

Why stop there? Why not Marantz? How about Altec? Don't forget Soundesign.

There are no "brand specific" forums or threads here. We're happily integrated.

Now, there IS another forum that breaks down into brand specific forums, but it's up to you to find it. But, alas, JBL isn't one of them.

Count me in as an owner,i have a pair of JBL L-250 TI in storage that sound as good as any speaker on the market,i sold them to a freind over a year ago & his wife hated the look (too big) so now i have them back & im glad too.

The L-250's were a speaker that i missed as soon as i sold it,i'll not make that mistake twice though:D

Anybody here ever heard a pair of Hartsfield's,there is not alot out there that can touch them.

I dont own any JBL's but have a great deal of respect for the company. They have garnered a bad rap thats not really justified. They do have some lower end lines that dont sound so great but once you get to the Northridge and the newer Studio L series, their speakers are on par with any other manufacture.
