<!--StartFragment-->I recently purchased a used 4bsst.

Last night when I turned it on, it blew the circuit breaker to the power to my upstairs room.

I hooked up my old amp and everything was fine.

Im wanting to use it as a 2 channel using unbalanced (RCA) cables.

(1) I initially plugged it into a power conditioning strip with other devices plugged into the strip. The strip is then plugged into a quad outlet will all four outlets being used.

(2) I then plugged it directly into the outlet by its self without the conditioning strip and all the other devices disconnected from the quad outlet.

Both scenarios resulted with the breaker being blown.

Im using a Cary Slp 98 F1 preamp.

I don't know if the 20 year warranty is transferable or if your amps defect would be covered by warranty but you should call Bryston at 1-800-632-8217 and ask.

Thanks Jinjuku....I just received an email back from Bryston. It said to make sure my breaker isn't a Arc-Fault breaker. I will have to check when I get home.

Interesting. I will file that one away for future troubleshooting. Thanks for the follow up and good luck. Nice amp you have.

So I hear...only if I can get it to work. At present I have the Innersound ESL300 and wanted to compare the two with my Maggies.

Newer homes will have AFCI breakers for the bedrooms by code, but just bedrooms for now. The 4BSST has two large transformers that could draw enough current so a dedicated 15A cct would be preferred.
