I'm sort of mixed on the movie. The acting was great, but, I feel a bit like I did after seeing Requiem for a Dream. I felt so heart-sunk by the end of it all - there wasn't a single character I didn't feel badly for. Truely the story of a bad situation.

If your okay with being a bit depressed, it is worth the rental.

I don't like being depressed but I did like Requiem for a Dream quite a bit. I agree, very dark but also very unique and well done. I might rent this one off Dish. Difficult things happen in people's lives, so I don't have a problem with movies that show the dark stuff. I don't think that every move should leave me feeling uplifted or happy or that everything was resolved, because life isn't always like that.

I stayed away from this because of the remarks about it being depressing but when it came down to there being absolutely nothing that I wanted to watch at BB then I made my peace with gloom and gave it a go. The movie was okay and it made me want to smoke weed a little but I feel odd about maybe wanting to pork Natalie Portman due to having seen her as a child actress while I was an adult. Bad casting job. That Toby kid looks like he's 12. Everybody played their parts well but all I can say is like 3 stars.

I just watched this the other night, and I too didn't think Toby Maguire was casted very well, but the rest of the cast was fine. I wouldn't have any problems porking Natalie Portman though... she looked just fine to me.

Thanks for mentioning this. Requiem for a Dream is one of my fav movies...I hope this one will be as good.

Saw it a few hours back.

To be honest, it didn't really made me feel like after watching Requiem...that's not the point either. I feel it could have been made better...more tragic ?

Or maybe I have just become a bit desensitized.
