Bourne Ultimatum HD DVD = Awesome Sound

Wow! I just saw this movie last night. The soundtrack is truly outstanding. The LFE was amazingly off the charts. My Trinity Sub was constantly pounding me. What a feeling!

The Surround channels were so enveloping. It felt like my surround speakers were getting a serious workout the entire movie. Man, it was awesome.

The the Front 3 speakers were extremely clear and powerful. Dialogue clarity was among the best I've ever heard from anything.

I definitely give this movie a perfect 10 for this HD DVD Dolby TrueHD soundtrack.

I was beginning to believe that HD DVD sucks after Transformers HD DVD! But this HD DVD TrueHD soundtrack is among the best.

Oh, yeah, and I would also give the Picture Quality a perfect 10.

Did you have any problem with the sound at any point? When they are in Tangier the sound gets all distorted and crazy all of a sudden and I have to rewind a bit for it to work again but it happens like 3 times throughout the movie. This is with the TrueHD track btw.

So, when you backtrack, it clears up on the second go? That is curious. And does it happen at the same place each new viewings?

Yeah the sound pretty much screws up every time they are in Tangier.

I'm a big fan of the Bourne movies and I bought Bourne Ultimatum on HD-DVD the day it came out. I have to agree that the picture and sound is amazing. Absolutely top notch!

However, I seem to have a defective disc. I can't play the HD-DVD side all the way through. at the begining of the car chase scene in New York I get an error. I ended up flipping the disc over to the DVD side to finish the movie. The standard DD soundtrack on the DVD side was VERY underwhelming! If anyone wants to showcase the advantages of Dolby TrueHD then this is the movie to use!

I saw it last night just in plain old DVD and the soundtrack is awesome. I had to turn max compression on the receiver because I would have had to deal with an angry wife for vibrating the bed, 2 floors up *G*. It makes good use of the surrounds just like you said.

No, I did not have any kind of distortion at all with the TrueHD track at any point in the movie.

Sounds like HD DVD is very inconsistent!

I also saw "Brotherhood of the Wolf" HD DVD (UK). For a "HD" movie, I could barely see or ear much of an improvement over the SD DVD!

Luckily my Bourne HD HDVD disc was not defective.

I have never had such inconsistency with Blu-ray soundtracks!
