Hello everyone,

After thinking about changing my receiver I decided to do it. I went along to Sevenoaks Audio Visual and bagged my self the AVR 3805.

I cannot believe the difference in sound over my Sony STR DB940. I am hearing things and effects in films I have never heard before. Everything is sooo much better. The effects steering is spot on and overall I am a very happy bunny even the sub seems to have more impact although I havent changed the level on that.

I managed to get the amp with a home trial so I have it till monday, if I decide I dont like then I can take it back no questions asked. BUT I wont be taking it back!!! It is awesome. I also heard the Arcam AVR300 in the demo room, very impressive but the Denon has features that I wanted that the Arcam didnt offer.

Once my bank balance has recovered I may treat my self to a better set of front speakers as well.

So anyone thinking of getting one, I for one give it the thumbs up. :)

Take it easy

Congrats on the new unit. I have had my 3805 for over two months and can't say enough good things about it. I highly recommend you buy the auto-setup mic if you have not already. Enjoy!

Hi Access Denied,

My amp came with the auto setup mic. Didnt what to expect when I first ran the test and I jumped out of my skin when it sent the test signal to the speakers!!!

Needless to say I left the room while it did the test for the rest of the speakers. When it finished it said my fronts were out of polarity which was correct!!! I thought I had wired it all up correctly but I hadnt and it picked it up. Very impressed.

One thing I didnt like though was the banana plugs that I used with my Sony didnt fit the Denon so I have had to just use the bare wires to wire up the speakers. Forgot how time consuming it is doing that!. But was well worth it when finished.

Also how do you find the bass level from your front speakers when you turn off the sub in the speaker config menu. It seems mine are a bit bass shy when they never used to be with the sony, but with the sub on things are all good again.

The main difference I have noticed is that you can clearly hear the stereo effects which I only really used to notice when I was wearing headphones, but now I get that same effect when listerning to my speakers. How it should be!!!

Any way sorry for the long post!

if you like the denon you woundn't believe the wat a arcam avr 300 will sound

IF you liked the way the Denon AVR-3805 sounds you won't believe your ears if you got the Arcam AVR -300 ,it would put the Denon to shame and has even put the NAD-T773 to shame in a comparison ,the Arcam should of been your choice i have haD MINE SINCE TUESDAY AND I WONT GO BACK TO TO THE MASS-MARKET CRAP .go listen you'll see you will change your mind.

You can do all the features with the arcam and it has bass management for all speakers ,if you can use a spl meter you can get the same if not better than the denon

as for front speakers go with thiel or Vandersteen with the Arcam or the Denon i suggest the Arcam with solid core wire that the vandersteens like the speakers are 1600 with tax the 2ce signitures with Alpha-Core for $10.00 a foot thos speakers will sound better than all on the market ,if the mass market stores tell you differant they are lying and just want your money ,you all need to visit www.audioperfectioness.com ,this is not a sales pitch it is the truth ,if in washington state near tacoma wa .or you want to buy the stuff from advanced audio or visit www.advancedaudiosys.com to see what im talking about

I'm sorry...what was the name of this thread? Oh yeah, it was about a guy that's happy with his Denon.

jeffg/audioman, I had a demo of the Arcam in the shop before taking home to Denon to trial. I decided to keep the Denon because to my ears it sounded just as good and was cheaper and offers more of the features I wanted, like the front av inputs.

I am a very satisfied Denon customer and when funds allow I will upgrade my speakers to allow it to sing that much better!!!

Jason I couldnt have put it better myself! :)
