Well i finally set up a small home theater. I have Aperion 6T's and the aforementioned Vsx-52. I have spent the last couple of days playing with it and have a couple of questions, one of which i know will spark an argument.

Here they go:

1) my speakers are set to large in MCACC, and I changed the cross over to 50hz from 80hz. As i dont have a sub yet, does anyone know how to remove the cross over? I want the full range to go to them.

2) It appears the gain, for lack of a better term, is off between sources. When we watch TV the receiver is turned up a good 20db higher than when the signal is coming from our Blu-Ray. The odd thing is this was opposite when i had both sources plugged directly into the TV.

3) Here's the doozy. Okay, I know bi-amping from a receiver is generally frowned upon as the cross overs in the speaker will effectively negate any additional wattage. However, my speakers only have one set of terminals, so the only difference appears to be higher wattage to the speaker terminals, the speaker isnt changing at all (i.e. terminal strips being removed). I know there is only one power source in the units which is spread to the separate amps.

Looking at the home theater review, the receiver put 108 watts with 2 channels driven, and 89 watts with 5 driven. As the sum of the wattage with five channels driven is double the 2 channel total, it seems to indicate i am not taking full advantage of the capabilities under my current 2 channel set up. If i am correct, i could hypothetically get approximately 180 watts to each of my towers instead of the 108 right now, which should be good for about a 2 db increase in headroom.

The other option is to get a separate amp, which i will likely do in the future, but wire is cheaper than an amp.

Hi. Here are some answers to your first two questions:

1) The only speakers affected by the crossover setting are ones set to "SMALL." If you don't have any set that way, then I don't believe that it will do anything. The one caveat is that the crossover also affects the LFE channel, and while I can't find it explicitly stated in the manual, I think that channel is sent to your front speakers if you have no sub.

2) That isn't unusual. Different sources can have different levels. When things were plugged directly into your TV, I'm not suprised that its internal tuner would have a higher level than the input from the blu-ray player. With the receiver, they are both external and now the relative levels are being impacted by the audio output level of the TV. You might be able to change the level of the TV output in the TV settings, and the same for the blu-ray player. The receiver might also have that, but I didn't see it as I skimmed the manual...doesn't mean it's not there, though.

I checked the MCACC last night and it shows -2db at 125hz and -6db at 63 hz. I am going to try to change it manually tonight, but i wasnt able to do it from the Ipad app.

As for the bi-amping, power consumption is stated at 570 watts per the product sheet. Basically, i want as much of this as possible going to my two speakers. Will bi-amping help achieve this?

I want the most power going to my speakers

Consider a 2 or 3 channel amp.
