A senior U.S. intelligence official said two more explosive devices were found near the area, and they were being dismantled.

The first blasts happened at about 2:50 p.m. near the intersection of Boylston and Exeter streets. Bloody spectators were carried away from the area, and witnesses said several victims lost limbs.
"People started throwing down the barricade and running over one another. I literally saw the garbage barrel explode, and I ran as fast as I could," said one runner.
Boston police said two people died, and at least 22 were injured. Many tired and scared runners were seen wandering around the area, desperate to find loved ones.
A doctor at Massachusetts General Hospital said the injured looked as if they "were in a war zone."

Lunacy is more likely. I can't imagine running a marathon and being greeted by this. It's sad. I'm thankful that more weren't inured.

Another one went off at JFK Library no one hurt. They are sweeping places. Sounds like several devices are possible.

Cell phones disabled to prevent remote detonation.

They apparently already have one suspect in custody. We obviously don't know if he IS connected, but they said they caught him about 1hr after the incident with serious burns and he is in a hospital under guard. There was also another bombing about 1hr after the ones at the finish line, so that may be how they caught this guy.

Can't say if they have the correct facts, but the news here said an hour ago that (a) the incident at the Library was a mechanical issue and wasn't related, and (b) they don't have any suspects in custody.

Although I really do understand that reaction, my first thought after hearing this news was, "I hope they catch that cowardly b*st*rd and lock him in a hole forever, so we never know his name."

Yahoo was reporting it was suicide bombers earlier So yeah, when all we have is second hand info, it is tough to truly know what's what. When it happened, I first checked Boston news since their local news were all covering the race. I'd call that info closer to the source, but still mostly second hand.

Yeah, there are some pretty awful pics. Limbs missing and a lot of carnage. I read that one of the two who died was a child. Very sad.

just goes to show how STUPID and cowardly these terrorist acts are.
to me, the 2-3 dead is not the worst of it. it's the amputees that i feel for. (and of course any hurt kid)

i know it's the terrorist's intention to hurt as many civilians as possible, but ... i don't know ... it's just senseless to me.

False alarm. Now the FBI is saying they are close to identifying the suspect, but now arrest.

But come to think of it, has anybody heard from Alex today?
He may have turned himself in just for the free body cavity search.
