If I understand, you want us to evaluate the sound quality of your speakers – as recorded through a cheap cell phone mic?

Actually i just wanted to give you guys an idea of how it sounded, i know the sound won't be as good in recording as compared to listening live, but still a new Smartphone captures plenty of detail with the low end frequencies to it, and recording doesn't seem that bad either.

I have seen far worst recordings than this.

You are joking with us, right? Must be, because even a high school age kid know you cannot get any sense of sound quality of one system by hearing it through another, better or worse. And in this case it wouldn't be the latter.

The Boston Acoustics Home Theater in a box system is probably better than a Bose system, but won't be as good as a dedicated speaker system.

People here are correct. I wouldn't be able to tell if that recording was of your Sony Midi system or the Bostons from a mere cell phone recording. Your phone cannot somehow magically record a sound space either, so unfortunately that doesn't really help.

What would help would be pictures of the system, how it's setup, and your room dimensions.

One thing I notice is the center speaker is sitting on top of the receiver, I would advise against that. I would also try to get the front speakers at the same level if it's possible and as close to ear level.

Thanx, for the reply. I know the Sony hifi system is obstruction and creates a confusion.
Secondly those fronts are mounted on wall with the ear level as per the expert who came and installed it. The centre doesn't have any hole for it to hang it on wall.

But my main concern is that rear port of the speakers being blocked cause its wall mounted and i dont want any stands. I know for certain that these bostons go deep in bass with rear ports.

@Sachb, you don't need us to validate your purchase. If you're happy with it, why would you invite us to convince you otherwise? If you enjoy the sound, then congratulations on a worthwhile decision! I suspect audiophile gear isn't easy to get in India, and Boston Acoustics is certainly well-reputed. I imagine your speakers far surpass my first home theater setup -- a Radio Shack clearance RCA home theater in a box. If you're satisfied with your Boston Acoustics gear, then good for you for showing it off! (But, yeah, when we hear your demo, we're hearing your room acoustics in addition to our own, as well as the delay between your left and right channels recorded as mono, colored by the bias of your phone's tiny, uncalibrated microphone. The combined negative influences do not do your system justice.)

Anyway, you should try listening with the mains on stands (or whatever reasonable height shelf or stacked chairs or table or lectern or milk crates or overturned flower pots or anything else you have handy) and see whether it makes an improvement, though. Part of the fun in audio gear is in playing with the placement, tweaking, nudging, measuring, room-response correcting, obsessing, and generally messing with it to make it sound the best it can possibly sound in your room.

Im satisfied with the sound but at times they do sound tiny. I thought of upgrading the mains to A26 in the near future, will it be worth it? Currently those A 23 do a good job handling music but when the volume is cranked up to 60 on my denon it starts to distort a bit.

Btw im not in India, i live in middle east. Might have to change the locationn to middle east.

I question the expertise of an expert that installs rear ported speakers flat up against the wall.

I wasn't confused by the Sony, I was merely pointing out that the quality of the microphone in the phone is far from substantial enough for their to be an audible difference between a desktop radio or a 100,000 sound system.
