Bose - were they ever as good as they claim?

I started thinking about this the other night after I had just persuaded another friend to look further than than the Bose retail store for his new home audio system.

Please tell, me, has Bose ever been as good as they claim? Have they ever produced a quality product that was actually worth the price tag?

I admit, I have heard some older Bose speakers that had surprisingly good sound....

The simple answer....

No.

Bose did try innovative ways of sound dispersion (Bose 901's), but the build quality of the components was not as good as the marketing of the products.


That said, I always liked Bose. Drop some light electronic jazz in the 8 track, dim the lights, light a few candles, light up an illegal substance, and the sound from the speakers was a great mood enhancer.
