Bose Speaker Wiring

As a pro installer I have a client with existing Acoustimass 6 speakers and sub for use in a secondary viewing room. As you may know the Bose Uber Annoying  proprietary wiring prevents connecting the standard theater wiring that is installed being used. Well actually not prevent it, the customer would like me to wire it without running all the speakers through the sub although Bose says not to.

My question is - Has anybody done this before and if so what were the results? Was there any (further) degradation in sound?

Please forego the Bose bashing if you respond ;) I just need to know if directly wiring the speakers to the amp causes any negative effects?

Thanks

The one time we tried to integrate Bose into a new A/V receiver - we couldn't do it.

Good luck.

I just wrote an article that touches on this here.

You have to use the acoustimass sub to get them to work well - if only because you can't access the acoustimass on its own. If he's using a different sub then technically you can connect the cubes directly, but the crossover is around 150Hz (best guess).

In either case you pretty much need to cut the wires and splice.

DO NO, I REPEAT DO NOT dun the cubes seperate to the amp you'll damage the cubes or even blow them. Thos e cubes are specifically designed to run off the bass module NOTHING ELSE. The module is equalized perfectly to run those cubes because it's not really sending them any power from the amp just high frequency signals. PAPER CONES and AMPLIFIERs don't mix believe me!

Advice from a BOSE EMPLOYEE!
