Hello, I am new in this forum...
I have a denon AVR 1804 amp with Infinity Beta front and central speakers, infinity 12" subwoofer, philips surround speakers and a back surround philips(this was a front central speaker).
I want to use 2 back surrounds and I have two alternatives: Bose 161 surrounds or JBL northridge 10 speakers...
Any suggestions?
Thanks
JC

Nobody here would ever recommend anyone purchase Bose. They are WAY overpriced for what you get. The northridge series seems to be well liked around here. What about the infinity's to match your set? Also take a look at BIC's DV62 bookshelves. Well liked, very low cost.

I would go with JBL over Bose. Bose you are paying for the name, and not quality. With JBL, eveyone complains they are boomy, but at least you are not paying more than the item is already marked up for.

EDIT::: BTW I love my E250p, to me its not boomy. Sounds great. Just won't hit 16hz.

Evo, welcome to the forum!

JBL Northridge 10's, or BIC DV62's for the surrounds. I'd say the BIC's since they have a 6.25" driver as opposed to a 4" driver for bass and midbass. It's a very popular speaker for the money. Stay clear of Bose.

If you are wanting other brands to choose from in that price range I think these keep getting great reviews... And very nice looking as well. Fluance speakers IMO , actually have a great sounding clean bass, and are not to bright.
I have not owned the ones in the link below, but I have had others, and their price point is hard to beat. IMO.

Stay far, far away from Bose. dull dull dull sound.

Although now that I think of it, many years ago I had a pair of 301's that at the time I thought sounded pretty good.

Oh well to each his own.
