I am just getting started with the idea purchasing a home theater. I am tempted to go with Bose Lifestyle $2000 the midrange one because of the ease of setting up. Is it really that good to be that price? Can I find the same on scene remote setup like in a cheaper Denon or Sony receiver? I don't want what my father has was too of line 5 years and completely confusing to operate.

For 2k, you can do a lot better than Bose.

with a Panasonic blu ray player for 100.00 and that leaves 800.00 floor a harmony one remote and and a decent receiver from denon, yamaha, onkyo, pioneer.
set up the harmony remote and you have one touch functionality and a far superior system to the Bose .

Ps: this is just one small example of what you can do with your stated budget. Get out and audition!!

It would be difficult to find less sound for more bucks than with a Bose system. These are the folks that brought us a $500 plastic clock radio. While they claim to be innovative, their major thrust is marketing, not innovation. For $2K you can get a nice mid-range receiver and an excellent 5.1 (or even 7.1) speaker system that will significantly outperform anything Bose sells. Setup for a receiver serving a TV and Blu-ray isn't particularly challenging nor is connecting the speakers and sub. A universal remote (shameless plug, my wife loves her Harmony One) makes control a snap.
