 Am I subject to direct marketing now because I have HT related browsing or are others seeing their ads as well? Stupid Lifestyle crap banner ads... My guess was that because I do audio related browsing, someone like Yahoo data mined my system for targeted marketing...they couldn't be more wrong with that particular ad :)

I don't have ads of any kind with Maxthon. :)

That is funny though. They think they're appealing to you because "Bose is top of the line".

"You're thinking about home theater. Imagine home theater that is thinking about you..." LOL. I'm thinking about home theater, but Bose wasn't part of those thoughts. Bose wouldn't want to know what I was thinking about their products...:D

I'm not talking pop ups, it's a banner ad as part of the content of the page like the Best Buy ad here. I don't get pop ups with Firefox.

Hahahah, Maybe it would help straighten them out if they knew what the *real* audio world thought of them...

The ad blocker in Maxthon removes banners, floaties, intelitxt (green underline), and just about any other ad you can think of. I couldn't live without it. :)

With Firefox, you're only halfway there. Check out the Adblock extension. I have no idea what Best Buy OR Blose banner you are talking about--I don't get them. :D This is probably the single most useful extension available for FF.

Well, I don't want to block everything :) With FF, it blocks the pop up function for PMs here...which is why I left it off at first.

The adblocker in Maxthon doesn't block the wanted things like the PM pop-ups. I don't know how it determines good and bad but it is close to 100% acurrate for me.

You define what to block & the new version FINALLY has a whitelist.

I use my router's block list as my a-filtering method.

I just keep adding known ad-delivery servers to it, and watch the ads vanish.

Yahoo keeps getting these odd black banners that say "Blocked by Netgear"...I wonder where they came from ;)

...also great for stopping those really annoying flash based ads that try to hijack your entire screen.

That reminds me...I heard a radio commercial the other talking about how the Bose Wave system was "the ideal solution for critical listening".

I had a good laugh.
