My Bose Acoustimass sub that has been working great for the past 7 or 8 years has begun a low “helicopter” sounding thump. It is intermittent and doesn’t matter if sound is sent through or not. Any ideas on a fix is appreciated before I send off for repair. Thanks for the help.

Sounds like the amp is going south. You can repair electronics?

ps I'd take the opportunity to get a much better sub than Bose (or do you need the connectivity/functionality for other Bose gear?). Repair bill may not be worth it, see some reasonably priced used units on ebay.

Exactly. Can probably find a used one for the cost of repair. I would also move on to something better, but there’s a lot more information needed to consider.

How low do those subs go ? Isn’t it like a midbass ?
