Bookshelf speaker feet

Hi. Forgive me if this has been discussed but I did a search and didn't find anything. I moved into a new home recently and am constrained in speaker placement so my Onix Reference 1 monitors now have to be on a bookshelf rather than stands. Are there any DIY tweaks people would suggest for feet I should use or am I better off just putting them directly on the shelf? Secondly, if I feel the bass is too boomy and want to reduce it, what can I stuff the port with?

Thanks,
Tom

Practically anything will work. Small rubber feet, foam, hockey puck, etc... You can stuff the port with anything that will fit in there...I've used a rolled up sock before.
